Quality vs. Quantity: How to Balance Your Content

Content Marketing

Nothing will bore your readers quicker than repetitive content. Imagine being a DJ equipment seller and publishing a Pioneer DDJ 1000 controller review that’s almost identical to your competitors. Your customers will head out immediately!

The only way to prevent this is by publishing original, high-quality content. But how do you do this and keep up with a packed social media calendar at the same time?

Here are three great ways to balance the quality and quantity of your content.

1. Be Realistic with Your Budget

If you’re planning on posting content daily, review your content marketing budget. Do you have enough funds to pay content writers for high-quality content every day? Whether you generate your content in-house or outsource it, maximizing content quantity and quality simultaneously will require more writers and working hours.

If your budget is high, you’re better positioned to generate a high quantity of content without sacrificing quality. In contrast, if your budget is low, then it’s better to invest in fewer pieces of high-quality content. The last thing you want is to pepper your blog with long, low-quality pieces nobody will read because you mismanaged your budget!

2. Consider Your Target Audience

Did you know adults between the ages of 18 and 29 use Instagram more than any other social media platform? In other words, if this age bracket is your company’s target market, then posting infrequent yet high-quality content on Instagram will yield better results than posting regularly on other platforms!

This is a prime example of why it’s vital to focus on the customer and fully understand the market. Ask yourself—what is your target market? What websites do they visit? The answers to these questions will help you uncover your target audience’s digital habits and decide when to favor content quality over quantity or vice versa.

3. Be Patient

It might be tempting to adjust your content strategy because you’re not seeing immediate results. Whether you feel you’re posting high-quality content too infrequently or low-quality content too often, relax! It takes up to nine months before the average business sees substantial results from content marketing—so be patient.

We recommend sticking to the same strategy for an extended period to check if it’s working. If it works out, great—and if it doesn’t, avoid being tempted by hindsight and switch your content strategy!
